The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) recognizes that the treatment of the disabled in our society has not always been fair and equal and seeks to change that. Basically, it aims at making sure that everyone in the society has access to every public building and workplace. The Act will consist of 4 standards, one of which is the Customer Service Standard which must be compiled with by January 1 of 2012.
For two weekends in late September and early October, you have the chance to take a tour of 31 artist’s studios in Elora and Fergus. This is a great way to learn all about the artists in your area and to possibly purchase some art for your home. Artcetera is the name given to this year’s magnificent Artworks arts center auction. A silent auction, Artcetera lasts for three days and is the main fundraising endeavour of the arts centre for the year. Artists taking part in the event will receive 50% of the selling price of their items with the remaining going to the fundraiser.
According to Joanne Ross-Zuj, Mayor of Centre Wellington, the branch library at Fergus, Ontario, will soon be renovated, undergoing an expansion at the same time.
